"super 8"" is super awesome..!!!

to be honest, i didn't want to watch this movie at first because i'm not a fan of j.j. abrams due to the LOST phenomena... (imagine, i still don't get the show till now...)
but i was really surprised of the outcome. if my dad's generation got "E.T.", we got "Super 8"...believe me, it's super awesome, and a super delight...
i can't help but be immersed in the setting of the movie which is 1979, a time where technology was just a murmur among society. I keep asking my dad questions of "how was it during the days?" and i just loved the answers.

The cast are also a blast and some of them are even newbies in the acting biz making them such great hooligans... but most of all, the movie is just pure cinematic action at its best. Imagine suspense hitting you when you don't even realize it.

And the emotions dealt in the movie is balanced pretty well. The strained relationship between the central character Joe Lamb has with his father makes you think back of yours.

the characters with their dads respectively..

And the friendship between the "Super 8"kids beckons you to think of yours.

scenes from the movie

I had a blast watching the movie simply because it makes me think. Now, how many movies does that to you..??(except INCEPTION).

P/s: i give the movie 5 stars...(one of the must watch movies this year..!!)

watching x-men:first class twice.....

i'm proud to say this... i've watched x-men:first class twice and stayed awake through both of the "excruciating" 2 hours 3o mins... some would say the movie is "so-so" (guys, i'm talking to you...) and some would say that with this movie, x-men had gained back its critical acclaimed status. x-men origins:wolverine was not a fav with critics but the new x-men movie had gained back its glory... :)
from left: banshee aka sean cassidy, magneto aka erik lenhsherr , mystique aka raven, agent moira mactaggert, beast aka hank mccoy, professor x aka charles xavier, havoc aka alex summers

be reminded that the movie is set during the 1960's which explains the hippie wardrobe that both newbie jennifer lawrence (she plays the younger version of mystique and isn't it freaky how strikingly she looks like rebbeca romjin who played mystique in the last 3 x-men movies)....

pic above: (above) rebecca romjin, (below) jennifer lawrence

and january jones (she plays the forgettable emma frost in the movie) dons... jumpsuits and polka dots were all the rage during that era so we can't really blame them. And the movie is set during the reign of president john kennedy, where the cold war between the US and Russia is still active. So, the mutants comes in as saviours to the the human race proving that they are not actually a threat. But humans, like usual do not want to acknowledge the mutants which beckons the question, are we really that stupid and barbaric..? (well, mutants do not actually exist but this movie certainly proves that mutants can be the better men.... or women..)

matthew vaughn injected a freshness towards the dying franchise proving that x-men is still hot and steady...other than that, familiar faces like james mcavoy, rose byrne and lucas till aka havoc(he was last seen in hannah montana the movie) are faces to watch in the movie but the real attraction is michael fassbender's portrayal of magneto. He was last seen in his "what?! he was in inglorious basterd!!!!!!!" role as the guy who accidentally ratted out that he is not actually german.

pics above: (above)michael fassbender in x-men:first class as magneto, (below) michael in inglorious basterd as Lt. Archie Hicox.
Isn't he the hottie? and to add another appeal, he has proven that he can speak many languages like german, french, and spanish and he managed to do it flawlessly in both movies...

In conclusion, this movie is not one to miss, so deflate your egos to watch one of the best summer flicks in town.
p/s: 4 stars over 5
